I came to Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines for the first time in October 1992 with the purpose of presenting the sound, accurate teaching of God's Word. I returned to Davao nine more times through 1997. My tenth trip in February 1998 marked the beginning of my full time ministry on the island of Mindanao. In August of that year I taught the first Sound Doctrinal Studies Foundations (SDSF) class. I spent approximately 360 hours in presenting the material the Lord led me to include in that first class. Since that first SDSF class I have had opportunity to teach that material eight more times over these past seven plus years.
In 1999 several of the Filipino pastors, Pastor Carlito Dadula, Pastor Eddie Laurente, Pastor Eser Pedres, Pastor Lui de Castro, Pastor Federico Andoy and Pastor Nestor Sejera, all men who had attended the SDSF classes, began to teach the SDSF material in the Cebuano and Ilonggo dialects both in Davao City and in rural regions throughout Mindanao. By the end of 2000 the Lord had brought well over 100 pastors and teachers into classrooms offering the sound doctrinal information presented in the SDSF course.
In February 2001 Rev. Ric Webb, the Pastor/Teacher of the Bible Doctrine Church in Little Rock, made a visit to Davao City to offer evening bible study sessions for five nights. I was led to invite those pastors and teachers living outside of Davao City who had been exposed to our teaching to come study with Rev. Ric, and at the same time to offer an opportunity for them to add to their knowledge and understanding of God's Word by offering a four hour class each morning during those five days. That was the birth of what we now refer to as the Sound Doctrinal Studies Continuing Education (SDSCE) class. Since February 2001 the Lord has allowed us to offer a similar five day class every three months. As of August 2005 we have conducted the SDSCE class 18 times, having to cancel the class in November 2002 because we were off island for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
In February 2006 we begin teaching another series of lessons called Sound Doctrinal Studies Spiritual Growth Principles (SDSSGP). As with the other classes our training schedule is be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This study will be for eight consecutive weeks.
We offer these classes free of charge to the men and women the Lord brings to our door. Many of the students attending these classes come to our house from outside of Davao City. For every class we have trusted the Lord for the monetary provision for the housing, food, transportation and training materials for these students. God has been faithful in making that provision such that we have never had to cancel a class or turn anyone away for lack of funding.
Beginning September 10, 2007 a new course of study is being offered available only to men who have been to a bible school or seminary, have been working in a ministry, but have come to recognize their own lack of spiritual growth. Many have already experienced "burn-out." This class size will be limited to allow personal interaction without delaying class progress to any great degree. The study material will be a combination of the SDS Foundations material and the SDS Spiritual Growth Principles material.
Not only has the number of students attending these classes continued to grow over the years, the number of saints in the Body of Christ supporting our ministry both in prayer and finances has also increased. It is through the prayers and generous grace giving of others that these Filipino brothers and sisters can be nourished and given opportunity to grow into Christ likeness. My purpose in developing this page on our website is to provide an opportunity for you who have an interest in watching and participating as the Lord makes financial provision to do so.
