"Time for Lunch"

Those whose faces you can see are; Pastor Dadula, Pastor Louie de Castro, Mary Ann de Castro, Maimai Cisneros.  The backs from left to right are Merlyn Tagose, Pastor Eddie Laurente, and Pastor Fede Andoy.

We are having our lunch while at one of the Pastor's conferences in Malaway, Malita, Davao del Sur in 1999.  This village was only reachable by crossing the river twice.  The houses here have no running water and no electricity.

Our accommodations while in Malaway in 1999.

This house is the home of one of the members of the Malaway Baptist Church.  He moved his family into the house of one of him married daughters and allowed us the use of his home.

The house has no electricity and no running water, two sleeping rooms and a "sala" or living room built on stilts, plus a cooking area and eating area with dirt floor.  Oh, what a beautiful, serene setting.  Malaway is in a small, lush, green valley in the mountainous, or "hinterland," region south of Malita, Davao del Sur.  A inviting mountain stream was just a few yards behind the camera man.

"Waiting"

In out travels to and from Davao City we found this to be our lot often.  Waiting for our plane either to Davao from Manila or from Davao to Manila.  This picture happens to be in 1994 on our way to Davao city.

Ric Webb, Dale May and Dr. Jim have managed to fit their bodies on the hard plastic chairs, while Steve Ellis studies.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) was our mode of transportation between Manila and Davao City.  After several of these "moments" we began to understand the meaning the Filipinos had given to the initials PAL (Plane Always Late).

"The TPI 5" a.k.a. "The Rangers"

From Left to Right: Celso Yahya, Ramon Maldo, Danilo Yahya, Larry Tura, Marcelito Tigyab.

These men are all from the "Tribal Association" in the mountain region south of Malita, Davao del Sur.  They have been studying doctrine with Pastor Dadula since 1997, have attended every Pastor's conference we have conducted in Davao, and have all completed the Sound Doctrinal Studies course taught by Pastor Lui de Castro and Pastor Dadula.

As the Lord provides the necessary funds these men go high into the mountains to the Sarangani province and teach doctrine to several hundred people who had been evangelized several years ago, but had no one to provide spiritual food for growth.

"Computer training"

The Lord has been gracious in providing computers for several of the men that have been trained through the ministry of Mindanao Vision.  As a result, training time involves training in the use of the computers as well as training in sound doctrine.

Here is Rick Morrel practicing to sharpen his computer skills.

"The first class of 2002"

From left to right: Pastor Dante Danopol, Pastor Allan Gumarao, Pastor Norberto Brinosa.

These three men made of the first English SDS class of 2002.  The class began on January 14th and ended April 5th.  Each of these men traveled to Davao every Monday morning to, attended class through Friday and then returned to their homes to teach in their churches each Sunday.  The travel time was about five hours every way.

"Practice, Practice, Practice"

As you will see in the next photo, the practice paid off.

On the left is Jerwell Andoy, age 11, playing chess against his brother Jester Andoy, age 12.  In the back coaching them is Adam Morrell, age 10.

"The Gold Medallist"

Sporting the team uniform and the Gold Medal is Jerwell C. Andoy, known as "Aweng" to family and friends.

At the recent Southern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association chess tournament, Aweng walked away with the championship.  His next challenge is Philippine National Tournament in May.
