About the Pastor and the Church

Rev. Carlito Dadula organized Spring Baptist Church as a mission church in 1987. The church was organized with eight persons. He has been the church's only Pastor. Spring Baptist Church presently has approximately 85 members.

Rev. Dadula has been a faithful co-worker of Dr. James Brettell since 1985. Spring Baptist church has been the host for Church-Planting Crusades and Pastor's Conferences once, and sometimes twice a year, since 1985.

Pastor Dadula and his church have a real heart for mission's. They have been responsible for organizing Ulas Baptist Church, Catalunan Pequeno Bible Doctrine Baptist Church, Spring Baptist Church and Lanang Christian Fellowship. Spring Baptist Church is training Pastor-Teachers, Teachers and Evangelists. Doctrinal video tapes, a television set and a VCR are available for use on site to Pastors who desire to study.

Another ministry of Spring Baptist Church is a daily Preschool that is attended by approximately 30 children.

The church conducts evangelistic crusades several times a year in the Davao Region, the largest land-mass city in the world. Spring Baptist Church also sends out a teaching team monthly to several mountain areas in southern and eastern parts of Mindanao to provide sound doctrinal teaching to pastors and other believers in those areas.

Pastor Dadula hosts a radio program, "Higala Kumusta," each Saturday afternoon, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., on radio station DCBC.

Pastor Dadula is married to Rose Barriga Dadula and has two wonderful daughters, Rocar (Joy) and Michaelangela (Gigi).

About the Pastor and his Ministry

Pastor Federico (Fede) T. Andoy was born July 13, 1964. He is married to Lourdes (Daisy) C. Andoy, and they currently have two boys, Jester C. (Jet-Jet), born February 28, 1990, and Jerwell C. (Wing-Wing), born March 23, 1991. Pastor Fede is a graduate of the University of Mindanao.

From 1982 until 1986 he ministered with Pastor Oscar Fortuna in the Zion Baptist Church Boat Ministry throughout Mindanao and Visayas. From 1987 to 1992 Pastor Fede worked with Richard Dickey as a member of the T.O.U.C.H. Ministry, again throughout Mindanao and Visayas. Pastor Fede met Dr. Brettell in 1985 and has attended each of his teaching conferences since that time.

In the spring of 1993, Pastor Fede was a part of a church planting crusade conducted in Lanang coincident with Dr. Brettell's 3rd "Rightly Dividing The Word of Truth" Pastors Conference. He then became the pastor of the church in Lanang.

In 1996 Pastor Dadula asked Pastor Fede to join his staff at Spring Baptist Church to allow Pastor Fede opportunity to further his training as a Pastor. While Pastor Fede worked with Pastor Dadula, his wife, Daisy, ministered as a teacher with the Dayspring Children's Foundation, a day school for children ages 3, 4 and 5 which is provided Monday through Friday at Spring Baptist Church.

Due to the relocation of the residents of Lanang to Mountain Dew, an area in the hills above Tibungco, just outside of Davao City proper, Pastor Fede began a new work there in September 1998. Initially the ministry in Mountain Dew was only on Saturdays, while Pastor Fede was completing his training at Spring. On November 1, 1998 Fede and Daisy gave up their ministries at Spring Baptist church, and moved from Ma-a to Mountain Dew to begin a full-time ministry to the people in that area. They have now established the Bible Teaching Church of Tibungco, where Pastor Fede is continuing to teach sound Bible doctrine daily.

Pastor Fede continues to translate doctrines into the Cebuano language and to be a part of the traveling teaching teams taking sound doctrinal teaching to the mountain regions of Mindanao each month.

About the Pastor and the Church

Pastor Pedres is now retired from a 30 year career as part of the teaching staff at the Philippine Southern Baptist Theological Seminary located on Libby Road, Puan, Davao City, Mindanao.

Pastor Pedres established his own church in Bangkal many years ago, the Christian Faith Fellowship Church. He became involved with the study and teaching of sound Bible doctrine as a result of his attendance of Dr. Brettell's second "Rightly Dividing The Word of Truth" Pastor's Conference in 1992. He has continued to study and teach sound doctrine ever since.

In 1998 Pastor Pedres and the members of his church began an outreach doctrinal teaching ministry to the Ilonggo speaking pastors and other believers in the North Cotabato area of Mindanao.

In June 1999 they reorganized their church and renamed it the Bible Doctrine Church of Davao City.

Pastor Pedres has also begun translating Bible Doctrine into the Ilonggo language.

He and his wife Rhoda have three daughters, Jelane, married to Lou Villegas, Jenilee, currently employed as a nurse in Connecticut, and Julie, just recently graduated from college.

About the Servant

Brother Rick Morrell and his family have been associated with Mindanao Vision since 1989.  As members of Pastor Dadula's church for many years they played active roles in the ministry and growth of Mindanao Vision.  Brother Rick traveled with Pastor Dadula as his driver and assistant on many teaching and evangelism trips outside of Davao City.

In 2000 the Morrell family began to worship and minister with Pastor Eser Pedres.  Rick was a student of the fourth teaching of the Sound Doctrinal Studies foundations course which began in September 2000.  His spiritual growth has continued as he has been present at every subsequent Sound Doctrinal Studies Continuing Education class, and he and Rose have become invaluable assets to the ministries of Mindanao Vision.

In September 2003 Rick was led to organize the first ever Mindanao Vision Youth Camp, and the result of that leading became a reality in April 2004.  The Mindanao Vision Youth Camp (MVYC2004) was held from April 11 to 16, 2004 with 102 young people, ages 12 to 18, and 30 adult leaders, counselors, teachers and cooks.  The Lord was honored in a most magnificent way.  As the director of the Mindanao Vision Youth Camp he has begun thinking and praying and organizing for the camps of the future.

About the Servant

Eddie and Helen dela Victoria were first introduced to our ministry in February 2003.  They came to their first Sound Doctrinal Studies Continuing Education (SDSCE) class having been invited by their friend Pastor Janny Monjardin.  Their "religious" history takes them back through 15 years as Mormons.  Eddie studies, and after 15 years in Mormonism he was realizing some major conflicts between the Bible, the Word of God, and the Book of Mormon.  In an effort to obtain resolution to these conflicts he discovered the leaders in his church did not have the answers.  Therefore, Eddie and Helen began to search elsewhere.  They became born again believers in 1999 while attending a Pentecostal crusade in the Buhangin, Davao City area.  Not long after their salvation both Eddie and Helen were totally involved in Pentecostalism, and they even enrolled in a local Pentecostal bible school.  Eddie graduated from that school at the top of his class.  However, they both sensed that there was still something missing regarding the spiritual life.  They became friends with Pastor Janny and began talking about spiritual things with him.  Pastor Janny had come to two SDSCE classes in 2002 at the invitation of Rev. Fede Andy, so he invited Eddie and Helen to come to the class in February 2003.  Eddie's comment after the first day was, "We have found it!"  The seminar ended on February 12th, and one month later they both returned to our door and asked if I would consider teaching them.  We studied together until they finished the seven unit Sound Doctrinal Studies course in September, and not long after that Eddie began to teach at church in Cabantian.  He officially became their pastor in May 2004.

Eddie and Helen have two adult children, one son and one daughter, and they have one grand-daughter..

About the Pastor and his Ministry

Pastor Luisito (Lui) de Castro was born on March 8, 1975. Upon graduation from high school in 1991 Lui attended the University of Mindanao in pursuit of a career in mass communication. It was at the University where he met Mary Ann Cuales, also a student pursuing a career in mass communication.

Between 1992 and 1998 Lui worked for several Am and FM radio stations throughout the Davao City area. Lui and Mary Ann continued to date during that time and in early 1998 they began to seriously search for some spiritual answers to some of life's questions.

They decided to enroll in the Philippine Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It was while attending classes at PSBTS that they heard of Pastor Eser Pedres and his teaching. They began to attend Pastor Pedres' church in Bangkal and thus became familiar with Mindanao Vision.

In July 1998 they chose to attend the Sound Doctrinal Studies course being offered at Spring Baptist Church rather than return to the Seminary. Lui and Mary Ann were married September 9, 1998.

In November 1998 Lui became Pastor Fede Andoy's replacement on staff at Spring Baptist Church as he continued his training as a young Pastor. At the same time Mary Ann replaced Mrs. Daisy Andoy as a teacher for the Dayspring Children's Foundation.

In September 1999 Lui began teaching a 360 hour, Sound Doctrinal Studies course, in the Cebuano language. Prior to that time the course had only been taught in English.

In May 2000 Lui and Mary Ann relocated to Bangkal, and have resumed ministries with Pastor Pedres and his church. Lui has become a member of Pastor Pedres' teaching team as they have continued to reach out into the North and South Cotabato regions of Mindanao with the teaching of sound Bible doctrine. Lui also has a small group in the Catalunan Grande, Monte Maria area, to which he teaches weekly, and is teaching each Sunday in Faith Baptist Church, which is currently without a full-time pastor.

About the Pastor and his Ministry

Pastor Nestor C. Sejera was born August 7, 1958 in Midsayap, Cotabato. On June 18, 1988 he married Moreta, known by all as Daday. They are the parents of a daughter, Gilda Faith.

Nestor's first contact with Dr. Brettell and the teaching of sound doctrine was in October 1993 at the 4th Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth conference held at Buhangin Baptist Church. He says it was at that time that he was challenged to learn more, and he was prompted to enroll in the Philippine Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has attended every Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth conference since that time.

He is a skilled carpenter which has allowed him to provide for his family while attending the seminary. He was able to graduate from the seminary on March 19th, 1999.

Nestor and his family met Pastor Pedres during his second year at the seminary and at that time began studying and worshipping with Pastor Pedres and his church. He became familiar with Mindanao Vision through Pastor Pedres' ministry, and began to attend the Sound Doctrinal Studies class at Spring Baptist Church as his schedule would allow during his final weeks at the seminary. Since he was only able to be in the Sound Doctrinal Studies class about 40% of the time prior to his graduation from seminary, he asked if he could stay and be a part of the next class on a full-time basis.

Shortly after becoming a part of the Mindanao Vision team he decided to relocate to Kidapawan in May 1999 to begin a sound doctrine teaching ministry there and in the surrounding area. Nestor's native language is Ilonggo, so his ministry focuses on the Ilonggo speaking believers of that area.

In early 2000 Nestor and his family relocated to Midsayap, North Cotabato where he has established a doctrinal teaching ministry. Nestor continues to be a part of Pastor Pedres' outreach doctrinal teaching ministry to the Ilonggo speakers in both North and South Cotabato on the island of Mindanao.  They have since moved into the parsonage at the church he is pastoring in Libungan.

The spiritual battle continues to rage.  In mid-2004 the negative response to the teaching of sound doctrine in the North Cotabato area in the ranks of the "religious" leadership convinced the membership of the Libungan Baptist Church to reject Pastor Nestor and his teaching.  As a result Nestor has resumed teaching small groups of positive believers in his home, and in other homes in Midsayap and in Tomado.

About Rowena and her Ministry

Rowena is the younger sister of "the missionary's wife," Nita Anderson.  She began her exposure to the teaching of sound doctrine as a young lady under the ministry of Pastor Carlito Dadula.  As Dr. Brettell made his mission trips to Davao City during the '80's and '90's, offering  the "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth" pastor's and church workers seminars, Rowena was often in attendance along with many of the young people of Carlito's church.

In 1996 the Lord opened the door of ministry opportunity for Rowena as she began taking Christ to the street children of Cebu through the ministry of "Christ For Asia."  After three years with the street children in Cebu Rowena was asked to become a part of the "Child Evangelism Fellowship" organization and was sent to minister in Tagbilaran, Bohol.  She continues to serve as the CEF regional director for the island of Bohol and several other islands in the Visayas Island area.

She is a member of Grace Christian Church in Tagbilaran, pastored by Dr. Nelson Rio and his family.  The Rio family and their ministry have been associated with the R. B. Thieme Ministries from Berachah church in Houston for many years.

About the Pastor and his Ministry

In 1993, by God's Divine plan, Dr. Brettell and our team from the Bible Doctrine Church in Little Rock, Arkansas were invited to teach a 5-day Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth (RDTWOT) pastor's conference at the Southern Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary at Puan, Davao City.  Alex was a student at the seminary at that time.  As he continued his studies over the next 18 months he had opportunity to attend three more of the RDTWOT conferences conducted in other venues in the Davao City area.  At some point after his graduation he became the pastor of the Jehovah Jireh Southern Baptist Church in Polomolok, South Cotabato

In 2000 Nita and I returned to the U.S. for approximately five months.  While we were gone Pastor Eser Pedres began traveling to South Cotabato to teach pastors in that area who were hungry for God's word.  Pastor Ayop was one of those pastors.  Nita and I returned to Davao City in August 2000 and in September Pastor Pedres informed me that six of the pastors from the Polomolok area had asked if they could come to Davao City and study with me.  They arrived a week later and we studied together until the end of November.  Of course, Alex was one of those six pastors.  Throughout 2001 and 2002 he returned every three months to participate in the Sound Doctrinal Studies Continuing Education classes offered in our home.

In 2003 Alex left the pastorate at Jehovah Jireh Southern Baptist Church to accept the position of Hospital Chaplain at the Southern Mindanao Medical Center in General Santos City.  Admittedly we were somewhat confused as to the reasons behind such a move, but it wasn't long before it was evident God had simply taken Alex into another facet of training for what only He knew the future held for him.

In March 2005 Pastor Ayop moved to Papua New Guinea to become a full time missionary.  His mission:  to evangelize, establish churches and train pastors  in the Madang area.  Please keep Pastor Ayop in your prayers as he takes up his place on the Lord's battlefield in Papua New Guinea.

See what the Lord is doing in PNG

About the Missionary's Wife and her Ministry

In 1985 Dr. Jim Brettell made his first trip to Davao City as part of a church planting trip with Dr. Gene Williams. His Filipino "partner" in this church planting endeavor was Rev. Carlito Dadula. Pastor Dadula had made arrangements for Dr. Brettell to stay with Dr. Mark Terry and his family, missionaries who were living in the Catalunan Pequeno area at the time.

Miss Nenita dela Cruz was working for the Terry family at the time as a cook and nanny for the Terry children. Nita was a member of Pastor Dadula's church in Ulas.

In the subsequent years in which Dr. Brettell returned to Davao City, arrangements were made by Pastor Dadula for Nita to cook for Dr. Brettell and his team while they were in Davao City. I believe Dr. Brettell's trip to Davao City in 1999 was his 19th trip. Nita has been the Mindanao Vision cook for every visit by Dr. Brettell, and has been my cook every time I have come to minister on my own.

Until Nita and I were married in January 1999, Nita was the cook on all of the evangelism and teaching trips to the remote regions of Mindanao conducted by Pastor Dadula.

Nita is the fifth child of eight children; two boys and six girls. Her nieces and nephews total 21 by three of her married sisters, and three grand nieces by two of their children. Except for one sister, Rowena, who is working with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Bohol, and her brother, Diosdado, who is a teacher in Iloilo, all of her family still live in southern Mindanao.

About the Missionary and his Ministry

Darryl was born in North Dakota in 1946. After two years of college he decided to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. While teaching for the U.S.A.F. in Colorado, he began to work part-time for Continental Airlines. In 1984 the Air Force decided to transfer him to Honolulu, Hawaii, and by God's grace he was able to continue his part-time work with Continental there. In 1986 Darryl retired from the U.S.A.F. but continued to live in Honolulu employed full-time with Continental.

By God's Divine plan, the paths of Dr. Brettell and Darryl crossed in 1989 as Dr. Brettell was returning from one of his trips to Davao City. He stayed over in Honolulu with friends for a few days, and Darryl had the opportunity to listen to him teach. The relationship between them continued to grow, and in 1992 Darryl began accompanying Dr. Brettell on every trip to Davao.

Darryl made his first solo trip to Davao City in 1996, at which time he conducted a three-day sound doctrinal teaching seminar in each of three areas outside of Davao City. During a period of ten days he traveled to Mati in Davao Oriental, Malita in Davao del Sur, and M'lang in North Cotabato.

In January 1998 Darryl retired from Continental Airlines and moved to Davao City in February. In March construction began on a mission house on the property next to Spring Baptist Church. The mission house was completed and Darryl took up residence on April 24th.

On January 24th, 1999 Darryl and Nita were married.

In February 2000 Darryl and Nita decided to move out of the mission house. After a vacation of a few months in the U.S., they moved into their present residence upon returning to Davao City. As a part of Mindanao Vision, By His Grace Ministries has continued daily in and from that location.
